Pompa semangat, Menpora tinjau latihan tim sofbol putri
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi has encouraged the national women’s softball team to keep training and stay positive in the face of fierce Asian Games competition.
"Keep on training, get enough rest and pray so that we can make Indonesia proud at the Asian Games," Imam told the team during a training session at Gelora Bung Karno sports complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday.
Indonesia softball player Cresida Mariska said that, at the Games, her team would face softball heavyweights in Japan, Chinese Taipei, China, the Philippines and South Korea.
"They are not only the best in Asia, but in the world. The Philippines excels, thanks to its naturalized players from the US," Cresida said.
In spite of that, she remains optimistic that the Indonesian women's softball team can compete with the strong teams.
"The five teams are, indeed, giants in the softball world. But, slowly but surely, Indonesia can also win. The Indonesian team's game is getting better and better. We are optimistic and must win," said Cresida.
She said the team would also continue to map out its strategy and prepare mentally for the Games.
